How backyards can feed the world

There are not many aspects of life that we look to Russia to provide guidance for, but this article makes the interesting assertion that when it comes to producing food we might just have something to learn from the way Russia does things. Over there, rather than subsidies for big agriculture businesses and huge swathes of monoculture, Russian has a system where individuals are entitled to a plot of land that they can cultivate for food how they choose, without government interference or tax breaks incentivizing any one crop.
