Is there a future for capitalism?

When the Global Financial Crisis hit in 2008 it was a wake up call to many people about just how entrenched the current mode of capitalism really is in our society. Even though banks and investment houses had caused the crisis through their own negligent, reckless behavior, there seemed no alternative but to bail them out to keep the current system functioning.

This personal recollection of that time argues that such thinking is outmoded and that we need to recognize such events as the GFC as a sign that things aren’t working and that we need a change.
